Monster Addresses Economic Crisis with Innovative Career Fair that Will Make Over 140 Stops to Help Job Seekers Find Available Jobs in a Challenging Environment.
Monster.com, the global online career and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc., today announced the launch of the year-long Keep America Working Tour, a nationwide, multi-city job fair designed to link employers that have open job positions with people who need them. The tour kicks off today in New York City and will visit more than 140 stops across America throughout 2009.
At the core of the Keep America Working Tour is Monsterís mission to help rebuild the American workforce by providing job seekers with the information and experience needed to directly and successfully interact with the employers who are hiring in their local markets. Further, Monsterís decision to provide these fairs free of charge to employers with current openings eliminates any perceived cost barrier, allowing Monster to connect job seekers face-to-face with a larger number of companies in one location. Using an innovative model that goes well beyond the traditional career fair, the Keep America Working Tour will bring together the tools and expertise job seekers need to not only to find a job, but also to help manage their careers. The result is the opportunity for employers to meet the highly qualified candidates they need to strengthen their recruiting pipelines and fill their open positions in an efficient manner.
ìGiven the critical impact of jobs in the economic recovery, we recognize that Monster has a tremendous opportunity to help provide employers and job seekers with effective, relevant opportunities,î said Sal Iannuzzi, chairman, president and CEO of Monster Worldwide. ìThe Keep America Working Tour is designed to create a unique and different experience for individuals – one that goes well beyond a standard job fair – by providing access to Monsterís career advice experts and coaching to enable people to feel confident of their skills and prepare them to meet employers face-to-face. These Monster career fairs will help seekers differentiate themselves to not only find a job, but also to find their calling.î
Another difference of Monsterís Keep America Working Tour is the innovative and interactive nature of fairs. Specifically, the Keep America Working Tour is designed to bring together the tools and expertise job seekers need to not only to find a job, but to help manage their careers, including on-the-ground advice from Monster career experts, Monster.com tutorial kiosks, career advice and management toolkits for seekers as well as information for employers. In addition, attendees also have the chance to experience the all-new Monster.com and learn how Monsterís powerful new career management tools can help job seekers reposition themselves and find their path to career success.
Another unique aspect of the Keep American Working Tour is Monsterís relationship with two non-profit organizations, Dress for Success and Career Gear. These non-profits are dedicated to helping disadvantaged and underserved men and women become self-sufficient through finding and retaining jobs. Monster has invited these organizations and their respective clients to attend the Keep America Working tour.
ìDress for Success made the difficult decision in January to cancel our ìSuccess is Workingî Diversity Career Fair,î said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success. ìWe were deeply grateful when Monster offered to provide Dress for Success clients with the opportunity to attend its career fairs across the country in the coming months. Monster literally resurrected this critical program.î
