Munro goes digital, takes on new talent and continues to grow

Clyne joins, launches new Digital Division; Watson, Dixon and O’Brien join and new client wins cement a great year for Scottish-based international recruiter

It’s been a busy couple of years for Steve Haggerty, CEO of Recruitment Specialists Munro Group. Buying out Munro Consulting, bringing in new staff, changing the business model so it’s simplified yet more innovative, opening a new office in Southampton, all whilst overseeing a sustained period of growth, mean that he’s not had much time to draw breath. And as if that wasn’t enough, Steve has been working closely with a former Fort William school friend, Alex Clyne, the co-Founder of Jump Digital, the leading digital analyst and marketing business.  Together, they have founded Munro Digital, with Alex as Interim Managing Director.

“The reason we have established Munro Digital is very simple,” Alex says.  “Recruiting digital marketing executives presents one of the greatest challenges in business today – for many, very good reasons. Digital straddles Marketing and IT but neither really owns nor fully understands it.  There are thousands of digital jobs now being created, but many businesses struggle to define their real requirements. Before organisations can make an investment in new talent, they need first to understand the digital world itself, which is a major issue as it’s an industry that changes incredibly quickly and mixes business strategy with all aspects of marketing, digital tactics, social, data legalities and IT.

“Munro Digital delivers something that more conventional Executive Search does not, namely genuine, practical, knowledge of Digital Marketing allied to a proven, successful track record in Executive Search. They will work closely with the Jump Digital team, building on Alex’s vast experience in advising organisations on their recruitment, including major, worldwide corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft and Goodrich. Jump Digital owns several Digital companies  including Web Analytics World, the very highly regarded “thought leadership” analytics news website which SAP ranks at No.3 in the world (with only Google and Yahoo ahead of it).”

Beyond Digital, the Munro Group has also been hugely strengthened by the addition of experienced construction and property recruitment experts Chris O’Brien and Paul Dixon, who have joined Munro in Edinburgh after almost three years together at Talent2. Additionally, Munro’s Executive Search capability in Aberdeen has been boosted by the appointment of Alan Watson, as a Director bringing  an immense breadth and depth of experience in international oil and gas recruitment.

Steve Haggerty, the CEO of the Munro Group, said, “We have invested a lot in the business over the last two years and it’s very pleasing to see it all coming together. Our unique structure provides integrated top level search and mid market recruitment into our key sectors of Upstream and Downstream Oil and Gas; Construction, Property and Infrastructure; and Digital.

“We believe we have made significant progress to bolster our current successful team over the last few years, but now, with the addition of these key new hires and the establishment of the Digital Division, I am very confident of the future success of the Group.”
