Today, Alexa.com ranks onrec.com 17,082 in the world according to traffic, up from 17,441 last week.

Brian Kruger, the CEO at CollegeGrad.com, has been tracking Alexa.com rankings with a specific interest in recruitment sites and has produced a website that gives a list of the top ranking online recruitment sites www.TopJobSites.com.

What we find interesting is that if you place onrec.comís Alexa ranking with the sites that Brian tracks in the category of college recruitment sites (US equivalent of graduate sites) it would be ranked number 2.

If you were to repeat the process with US executive recruitment sites, onrec.com would rank 4th.

With regard to his table of niche sites that include IT, finance, retail and healthcare, onrec.com would appear 9th.

Alexa ranks sites for free. All you need to do to see the information on any site is download their free toolbar. From this they monitor the sites their users use and deduce a world ranking based on their statistics.

I first started to use Alexa two years ago before they provided traffic rankings, because they provide information on the sites Alexa users also use. Very useful for research for example, if you are looking for recruitment sites in Finland. You can tap in the URL of the site you know of and the Alexa toolbar will produce 5 associated sites.

Why does onrec.com rank so highly? We donít do any search engine manipulation so itís now by optimization or purchased clicks. We have been established almost four years now and have built up a wealth of information, most of it available free to anyone prepared to trawl through our site.

The introduction of email newsletters has helped to improve our service to interested visitors to the site. We aim to send out newsletters daily, I say aim because we only send out newsletters when we have news deemed sufficiently interesting to our readers. Sending daily newsletters to a growing subscriber database increases our traffic.

We also have substantial traffic from both the US and Canada, where Alexa is better known and given more credence as an information source, than in the UK.

In conclusion, Alexa.com is a free service and I think is useful as an indication and no more. However, you canít blame us for crowing about continued rise in the ranking for a site privately owned and funded, run by a small team of 3 dedicated people working long hours to help HR, recruiters, jobseekers and suppliers make sense of a rapidly changing market place.
