SPIE, the independent European leader in electrical and mechanical engineering and HVAC services, energy and communication systems, has today announced that Rachel Hayward, Human Resource Project & Systems Manager at SPIE UK will be relocating to the SPIE Abu Dhabi office to commence a new role as Middle East & Central Asia Business Unit Recruitment Manager for SPIE Oil & Gas Services.
In her new position, Rachel’s responsibilities will include heading up and developing the recruitment team to support the business across six countries. She will manage local strategy in order to attract and select talented candidates with the right level of expertise and competencies. Rachel will follow a holistic recruitment approach, using her time to focus on existing client needs and business development, as well as onboarding new members of the human resources team.
Rachel joined SPIE UK in January 2008 as Recruitment Manager. In this role, Rachel changed the company’s recruitment model from one reliant on recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), to an internal recruitment model where responsibility lay with the in-house HR team. This reduced permanent recruitment costs by 84% in the UK.
Rachel comments: “This is a new and exciting chapter for me. I’m looking forward to facing all of the challenges the role will bring and to taking the next step in my career, confident in the knowledge that I will have the support of a great team beside me. I am eager to expand and discover new horizons for SPIE. Having previously focused on the UK, this role will give me the opportunity to capitalise on mobilisation across the SPIE group, enhancing and sharing knowledge globally. I’m very grateful to SPIE for all the support and encouragement they have given me during this period of transition.”
James Thoden van Velzen, CEO of SPIE UK, said, "I would personally like to thank Rachel for her dedication and innovation during her time at SPIE UK. Rachel brings a wealth of experience to her new role at SPIE Oil and Gas. She has a proven track record in developing and managing highly motivated teams and I’m confident that she will be successful in developing HR and recruitment in the Abu Dhabi office. I wish Rachel every success in her new role.”
