Workthing and Signet UK set to transform nationwide store recruitment

.

Workthing, the recruitment solutions provider, owned by the Guardian Media Group, is to help Signet UK, part of the worldís largest speciality jewellery retailer, implement a nationwide initiative to improve the speed and consistency of management recruitment across its 607 high street stores and two head offices.

Workthing has designed and built career sites for Signet UK and its high street brands, Ernest Jones, H Samuel and Leslie Davis. A new central recruitment team will manage online application response and candidate communication using Workthingís PeopleBank technology. This will ensure that every jobseeker, regardless of where they are based, has a consistent application experience. The initiative is at the forefront of the companyís bid to promote its employer brand, to help it attract the best store management and head office staff.

The team will be able to post new management vacancies as they arise directly on the sites. They will also be able to track the status of the recruitment process across the country. The system will significantly reduce the administrative burden on parts of the business formerly responsible for manually sifting and sorting paper CVs.

A simple questionnaire designed to test a candidateís motivational fit with Signet has been integrated into the online application process. It will improve the consistency of candidate selection and help with staff retention. The company will be able to store details of all applicants in its own CV talent pool, to match with current and future vacancies.

Signet will continue to advertise vacancies in various media, including job sites such as Workthing.com. All recruitment advertising will lead candidates to the corporate careers sites.

Sheena Macdonald, Resourcing Manager, Signet UK commented: ìWith this new system, and a dedicated resourcing team in place, people applying to the Company will undoubtedly benefit from a much faster and consistent application experience. Whether theyíre successful or not, we can be confident they will always receive a good impression of the way they are treated. This is all-important in building a great employer brand ñ especially in a retail business, where your candidates are usually also your customers.

ìAt the touch of a button, PeopleBank technology will give the team visibility on the recruitment process throughout the UK - particularly useful for us to keep track of nationwide store recruitment.î

Bill Shipton, Commercial Director of Workthing, commented: ìCorporate careers sites play a critical role in a competitive labour market. They are the shop window on which candidates judge organisations.

ìItís absolutely key to get the look and feel right, provide access to relevant information, and then, most importantly, give all potential employees a quick and seamless application experience.î
