June saw the London job market continue to thrive, with a 12% increase in new jobs posted on top of last month's figure. This continues the trend of a steady month on month increase for 2014, with nearly 70% more jobs being posted than this time last year.

Job applications were also on the rise in June, with the month boasting a positive difference on May's figures and more than a 26% increase on this time last year. With the summer months being typically slower for active job seekers, these figures reveal a huge interest in job hunting from the London population as we continue to come out of the recession.

In terms of industry, there was a wealth of applications (over 100,000) made within the administration sector, representing 19% of all job applications in London. This is a 37% year on year increase from 2013. Administration is proving to be one the fastest moving and most buoyant industries for this location right now.

The construction industry has also seen a 57% year on year upsurge in applications, which comes as no surprise taking into account the capital's commitment to development. Another big player in terms of year on year increase is the public sector industry (+45%), with council and government roles becoming hot property. IT job applications have also increased by 45% since this time last year.

Taking a more in-depth look into the booming administration sector, roles such as Office Administrator and Project Manager are mainstays of the job boards, with an almost constant demand for these types of profiles.

If you're looking for something to take you out of the office, then why not check out the less saturated leisure/tourism industry sector? Representing less than 1% of job applications in June, there are over 100 live jobs in the London area right now. Working in events, hospitality or activities can be a rewarding career choice – similarly, if helping people is your thing then you may like to look into one of the 500+ jobs within social care.
