During the breakfast session, which is expected to attract more than 20 local businesses, Steve Buttery, Communications Director at Evo Services, will share some of his top tips for effective staff recruitment and retention to help companies grow.

Steve said: “It costs an average of £30K to replace a single member of staff, so looking after your existing employees is just as important as investing in new talent.

“By recruiting the right person for the job and then nurturing them through on-going training and support, listening to their individual needs and involving them in your plans, staff will feel invested in your business and will want to drive it forward with you.”

Steve, along with the other 10 direct employees at Evo Services Ltd make it their business to identify the best personnel for each client from their growing team of more than 500 staff. But now he wants to inform and educate businesses in how to retain the best staff to support growth.

In both temporary and permanent positions, Steve knows that clients are looking for the top candidates to fill their vacancies as quickly as possible. But by having the right people in place from the start, clients can begin to build staff loyalty – a key principle for retention.

Evo Services Ltd identify skills and experience by working closely with agency staff and offer additional training in health and safety, food hygiene, manual handling and forklift driving, to name a few.

Steve added: “Our own ethos is to encourage and support the development of our agency workers, which is why we offer performance coaching, annual reviews and free English lessons to support career progression.”
